St. Augustine of Canterbury Moving to Saco Grange Building
Old Orchard Beach, ME - July 17, 2014
St. Augustine of Canterbury Anglican Church is pleased to announce their move to the Saco Grange Hall at 168 North Street, Saco with the first Mass to be said on Sunday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Kevin LaMarre, OSB, will be the celebrant. All are cordially invited to attend the Mass and the coffee and fellowship hour that follows.
St. Augustine's has been located at 156 Saco Avenue in Old Orchard Beach, in the Cathedral Pines Chapel, for nearly five years. From here the parish has been serving Old Orchard Beach, Saco and the surrounding area and has continued to grow and be a vital part of the community.
The Reverend Deacon Allen Ryan says that the Church's focus, as it prepares to make this move, is three-fold. "We definitely want to honor our past, become increasingly active in the present and be excited about the future. We are very excited about this move," he added. "It will allow us to expand our ministry, add new programs and activities and serve our parish family and our community better."
St. Augustine's has developed several community programs since its establishment. These include a close relationship with the Saco Food Pantry, a strong outreach program that provides bikes to foster children at Christmas and backpacks filled with school supplies to the areas homeless and disadvantaged children.
St. Augustine's is a member church of the Anglican Church in America and its Diocese of the Northeast, and is part of the worldwide Traditional Anglican Communion with members in 44 countries. The Church seeks to uphold the Catholic Faith, Apostolic Order, orthodox worship and evangelical witness of the Anglican tradition within the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. The Communion holds Holy Scripture and the ancient Creeds of the undivided Church as authentic and authoritative, and worships according to the traditional liturgies of the Church including the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and the Anglican Missal.
