St. Augustine Anglican Church Offers Student Essay Contest
St. Augustine Anglican Church in Scarborough invites all students who will be ages 9-15 by August 15 to participate in its first Essay Contest. Participants are invited to submit an entry response based prompts in each of three grade divisions. The contest is an opportunity for youth to express their thoughts on a variety of issues with a choice of topics for each division. The winner of each division will win an all-expense paid week at St. Luke's Anglican Summer Camp. Transportation to the camp is not included in the prize. The top winner will have their essay published in the Northeast Anglican, the Diocesan newsletter.
"We are delighted to announce this essay contest for students in our area, as it provides an important opportunity to encourage youth to engage with issues of importance in imaginative ways. It is thus essential for us to understand the perspective of youth on key subjects relating to social justice and spiritual development," Father Jeff Monroe, Vicar of St. Augustine's.
Essays must follow the prompt chosen by the student and follow the requirements for length and format. A separate Application form must accompany the submission.
Application packets are available by contacting Valerie Kazarian at email@example.com or by writing to the church at P. O. Box 431, Scarborough, Maine 04074. Submission Deadline is Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
